If your passport has been expired for less than 10 years you are able to renew it by filling out the appropriate forms, sending 2 recent 2'x2' photos taken on a light plain background (don't smile). The person who countersigns the application, must also sign the back of one of the photos. You will need proof of UK citizenship, if an emergency, your flight itinerary. There are a few other documents you will need and you will need to pay the appropriate fees. Remember to mail the documents via Fed Ex to ensure safe delivery.
