The World Trade Center, twin towers, were erected between the years of 1966-1972. They were destroyed on September 11, 2001 when terrorists flew hijacked commercial passenger jet airliners into the buildings. The buildings collapsed within two hours of the strike. The twin towers is a common reference for Tower 1 and Tower 2 of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. The towers were completed in the early 1970's and stood until they were destroyed on September 11th, 2001 in a terrorist attack.
