Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1st of 1955, for failing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery city bus. At the time it was the law in Alabama, that blacks had to sit at the rear of the bus. If the bus was full, they were supposed to give up their seat for a white passenger.
