Who Designed the Kelvin Scale?

Answer

The Kelvin scale of temperature measurement is named after William Thompson, 1st Baron Kelvin, who first stated the need for an absolute thermometric scale. In 1954, the 10th General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) defined the scale by selecting the triple point of water as the fundamental fixed point and assigning it the temperature 273.16 Kelvin. Some years later, the CGPM explicitly defined a Kelvin to be 1/273.16 of the thermodynamic temperature of the triple point of water.
