Cells are limited in size to maximize efficiency. If they were larger, the organelles inside would have a hard time transporting materials within the cell.

The main thing that limits cell size is the resources available to them. Since they have to maintain a certain size and can't grow larger they divide.

It is hard to give a comparison of the size of a cell since a cell is far from big. Cells are so microscopic that they can only be seen with a microscope.
