When Pluto was discovered in 1930, it took over 4 hours for its light to reach earth. It would take a lot longer to get to Pluto. If the Voyager left for Pluto today, it wouldn't arrive for over 20 years. That's a pretty long sky trip to make, so don't forget the snacks! Scientists are working on a smaller spacecraft that would travel much faster. It should only take about 10 years to get there to reach Pluto when that craft launches. Humans won't be traveling to Pluto on that trip or anytime in the near future. If you have ever packed a car for a week long vacation by car, you will understand that it would be too hard to pack for a journey like that!
