Tsunamis occur due to a disturbance of the seafloor. This usually is a result of underground earthquakes or those that are extremely close to the water. They can also be the the resuly of a volcanic erruption or landslide that occurs under sea as well. The Pacific Ocean is most common for these ocurrences.
