What is Systematic Desensitization?

Answer

Systematic desensitization is a method used by psychologists (and some people can do this on their own) to help people overcome fears and sources of anxiety in their lives. The first step is typically to relax as much as possible. The second step is to introduce the thing that is causing your fear. The Third step is to get as close to that thing as possible (this could mean anything from getting close to a spider, or mustering up the courage to stand up to someone). The final step is to take what you've learned about overcoming this source of fear or stress and applying it to your life, in general.
