Meat should be placed in the freezer by the sell by date. Then it will keep up to three months in the freezer. If you do not put it in the freezer it should be cooked right away.

The sell by date is just so the store can tell when they packaged the meat. Raw meat is good for about a week "as is" after the sell by date.

"Sell-By" dates are a guide for retailers. Although many products bear "Sell-By" dates, product dating is not a Federal requirement. While these dates are helpful

An egg is good for about 2 to 5 weeks after the sell by date. If you keep the refridgerated they should be fine. I wouldn't let them go any longer than 5 weeks though.
