Answer

Crystal candy, also known as rock candy is made with basic ingredients of sugar and water. Boil 1 cup of water and 2 cups of sugar until the sugar dissolves. Secure a string weighted with a paper clip or bead on the lid of a mason type jar. Pour the sugar liquid in the jar, and secure the lid with the string hanging in the liquid. In a few days the crystals will form.

To make crystal candy you only need four cups of sugar, two cups of water, and plenty of time. Bring the water to a boil, add sugar and ensure that it dissolves completely. Pour the mix into a jar and cover with wax paper to cool. Tie a string to a stick on one end and some type of weight on the other. Dip the stick in the water solution and then remove and let dry, this creates a starter crystal. Suspend the stick in the jar again, at least 3/4 the length of the jar, and let it sit for several days. Crystals will begin to grow after a few days.
