The term hacker has a bad reputation. When something malicious happens to someone's computer, non-computer savvy people quickly blame a 'hacker'. There is a difference between a hacker and a cracker. Hackers gain access to computers or serves out of curiosity. They try to gain access technologically to websites or computers mostly for the sake of proving they can do it. Crackers on the other hand, are persons who intentionally infect or infiltrate a computer to destroy it or do it major harm.
