Poe received two small awards in his lifetime. One was a $50 prize for "MS. Found in a Bottle" awarded by the Baltimore Saturday Visiter (sic)in October, 1833.The second was a $100 prize for the story "The Gold Bug" from the Dollar Newspaper in 1843.
